Apam Dot-dot on the craze!!

Everybody (almost!) in my friends list, have been updating their status on apam pokadot. I don't particularly have any interest in this, sebab dok ingat it's just a regular 'next-door" apam... hehehee.. Tapi rupanya lama juga the craze keep going on so I've decided to give it a try. After searching for a few recipes to kick start my project, I finally settled for this one, almost similar to this one from Cik DD at http://hiphiphoorey.blogspot.com

The kids just loooove it.. the strawberry filling is a winning factor and I also used apple filling just to try things out!! It also comes with Mocha and chocolate flavor. Muahhh!!

Apam Dot Dot

Bahan-Bahan
3 biji telur
275 gm tepung gandum*
3 sudu teh baking powder* (diayak bersama tepung gandum)
200 gm gula halus
150gm susu sejat
1 sudu teh ovallete
1 sudu teh Esen Vanilla

Filling strawberry (atau apa-apa pun boleh)
Pewarna mengikut citarasa

Cara-cara

1. Pukul telur dan gula hingga kembang.
2.
Tambah esen vanilla & Ovallette, pukul lagi sehingga sebati dan nampak adunan akan berubah texture menjadi gebu
3. Masukkan susu BERSELANGSELI dengan tepung sedikit demi sedikit sambil pukul perlahan dengan mixer.
4. Bahagikan adunan kepada beberapa bahagian ,titiskan pewarna mengikut citarasa

PENTING: Jangan buka api besar semasa mengukus. Nanti merekah.

Selamat Mencuba :)

What's inside an RV?

"What do you use to produce a cake looking like that?? "

Which is referring to the bright red texture of the cake, of course..

Well - food colouring, and to be exact - bright red food colouring.. Er - feeling guilty yet? Here's more to come: The ingredient will mostly instruct you to use 4 TABLESPOON of bright red food colouring. That is 7.5ml times 4!! Do your maths quick!! Gulp!!

But... BUT... the good news is... you can control what goes inside a cake... if you are the one baking it! And if you eat my RV, never fear for my red velvet is always far behind the measurement - in terms of colouring and sugar, since I love the cake myself and the whole family dotted on it. I always feel guilty about putting so much sugar and colouring in my food.. There's a lot of unforeseen consequences from the sugar and colouring intake. That's why I've stopped doing the cupcakes decoration.. :-( And you wouldn't believe how much I have reduced in the amount of the colouring... instead of full 30 ml, I only used only a small-small-small fraction of it!

So, truthfully - Yes, an RV cake definitely have the colouring in it.

Nevertheless, I am always ready to have anybody who requested a RV cake but to "leave out the colouring please..."

Of Ducks and Birds...

Some people love bird, duck and chicken... they roast it, fry it or 'sup' it... But, some people just love these animals and they put it on their garden...

or arrange them nicely on the shelf in the living room..

So, where how do you like them?

Applange

Tadaaa...... the real APPLANGE!!

It's an Apple-Walnut then I add in the orange fibre together to make it a yummier and healthier cake.. Yes, i know.. i know.. the looks of it is not sooooooo appealing.. it does not have that "Wow!", "Fuhhhhh...!" and ""Phulamaakkkk" factor....
Like I said - don't judge a book by it's cover mehh....

To imagine the taste, you just have to close your eyes....
then think of an apple.....
then think of an orangee. ..
then think of biting some walnut together with the apple and orange...
Now, what do you think?? Sedap kannn!!

I purposely leave out some one cup of sugar from the original recipe.. coz personally I don't like my cake to be tooooo sweet.. and all those caloriess too!! Pheeww!! The most importantly - less sugar is always the best way for our lifestyle!

p/s: I do have to improve the presentation side of my cake.. don't I??
